John Canning & Co. was responsible for the design and execution of this mural for a powder room in a privately owned mansion. Inspired by historic scenic French wallpapers such as Zuber Cie, the mural includes a stone balustrade in the foreground and views of classical pavilions and fountains set into a lush landscape. The mural was executed in semi-transparent oil paints in soft colors on a cream background, including details as tongue-in-cheek “seams” slightly out of alignment.
