Rodeph Shalom Synagogue, Philadelphia, PA: Restoration, preservation, and conservation of historic complex patterns and Hebrew symbols

Rodeph Shalom
Rodeph Shalom

The Rodeph Shalom restoration and conservation project required careful analysis of the surfaces and finishes to determine how to clean, conserve, and restore the decorative scheme, executed on fabric.

Every surface of the Synagogue is decorated with complex stencil patterns and Hebrew symbols.  Conservators and decorative artists in-painted and replicated patterns, blending their work to match adjacent areas.
