Saint Mary Roman Catholic Church, Norwalk, CT: Restoration of historic plaster and decorative finishes

[/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=”transparent” down=”5″][vc_column_text]Built in the 1870’s, Saint Mary Roman Catholic Church was built in the Gothic style. Originally plain painted, the Church was decorated on three separate occasions during the first half of the twentieth century. Each decorative campaign was unique and elaborate. In the 1990’s, the Church was painted an off-white throughout. Under the direction of Pastor Greg Markey, the Church was treated with a new decorative scheme that articulated the architecture. However, it was important that the new design be confident and strong, as well as authentic in the historical tradition of church decorating. The new interior was to be reflective of the liturgy, Catholic tradition and symbols, as well as celebrate their patron, St. Mary. The most recently completed phase included the restoration of decorative design in the transept such as the new plaster reredos.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=”transparent” down=”5″][vc_column_text]Location: Norwalk, CT
