Wadsworth Atheneum Restoration

Wadsworth Atheneum Restoration

Museums – valuable historic landmark buildings preserved to house cultural artifacts and works of art.

Sometimes, the museums we work in are “house” museums – properties of historical value because of the events that took place there, or because they represent a historic building style, such as the Mark Twain House and Museum, in Hartford, CT.

Sometimes, they are buildings whose purpose began as something else and now serve as a home to permanent collections, like the National Building Museum in Washington, DC, or, provide a venue for events and non-permanent public exhibits, like the Old State House in Hartford, CT.

And sometimes, as in the case of the Wadsworth Atheneum, we are working in a building designed to be an art museum.

No matter what the provenance, our intention is to faithfully restore original design elements, and to augment original work, when requested, by extending the original design intent of the architect.

When applied to historic museums, our specialty contracting services are dedicated to the restoration and conservation of the structure and its decoration in order to complement the historical significance or art it stands to display.
