After years of vacancy and threats of demolition, this building was transformed into mixed-income apartments and commercial space. Designed by Thomas W. Lamb, a theater designer who was a master of substitute materials, the building was inspired by the Connecticut State Capitol, of which it has a beautiful view. Canning restored the lobby ceilings and simulated mosaic murals. The adaptive re-use project received the Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation 2010 Award of Merit.

This is one of the projects discussed in this video of some of the Theatre projects John Canning & Co. has worked on.
