John Canning & Co. was selected as a specialty contractor by the University of Michigan to restore the Rackham Auditorium, which is part of the Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies.

 The Auditorium ceiling was experiencing flaking, peeling paint and plaster damage. John Canning & Co. provided plaster and decorative painting restoration the auditorium ceiling.  Losses were inpainted and replicated where necessary.

The building was built in 1938 and designed by William Kapp.
