The Scranton Cultural Center at the Masonic Temple is a theatre and cultural center located in Scranton, PA. Canning’s work included executing historic treatment of plaster, decorative painting for the acoustical tile ceiling, and overall treatment of interior historic decorative painted surfaces.

Our work was done on the ceiling and walls of the Auditorium, the Auditorium balcony, the rear balcony stairs, the Banquet Hall mezzanine, and the Shopland Hall. Part of our plaster restoration included the plaster medallions on the Auditorium ceiling. We replaced, repaired, cleaned, and touched up the polychrome where necessary, along with reinforcing the backside of all medallions for extra support.

We repaired water-damaged flat plaster throughout the Auditorium and its balcony, the stairs, and the Banquet Hall mezzanine. We repaired cracks and patched to match the existing finish texture, as well as painted it to match the existing finish. For the ornamental plaster, we patched to restore the original profile and painted to match the existing finish or replicated the previous stenciling indicated. In the auditorium, we executed a lot of stenciling, which involved preparing the wall for stenciling, as well as rebuilding the Plaster Arch Head.
