John Canning & Co. was brought in to design a new adoration chapel at St. Matthew’s in Forestville, Connecticut, by converting an existing meeting space. The new design included a groin vault-type ceiling to provide the desired look. Canning also brought Sullivan Brothers Remodeling to perform the demolition and construction necessary to meet the design.

The work encompassed consultation services to guide the process, materials, lighting, and design for the carpet, flooring, and plaster. Likewise, Canning helped fabricate and install three murals, notably a Last Supper mural on the upper nave’s arched walls, blending print and painting techniques. The team developed pencil, watercolor, and sketch-up renderings to refine the artwork and determine the most effective approach. Additional enhancements featured faux marble decorative treatments on two columns, gold accents throughout the trim, and the installation of a three-dimensional medallion of the Holy Spirit.
