Conservation & Preservation

Canning Co. professional conservators carefully evaluate conditions, develop harmless cleaning solutions, reattach original paint where possible, and protect original artwork with reversible coatings. All of our work is thoroughly documented with photos and materials specifications, and include recommendations for ongoing maintenance.

Our philosophy – “do no harm” – is aligned with the code of ethics and guidelines published by the American Institute for Conservation (AIC), the governing trade association. Canning Co. principals are members of AIC and frequently present educational seminars in conservation techniques at national meetings.
